Easy and Simple upma made of Idiyappam (Noolappam). Usally idiyappam is very easy to make breakfast and its upma is more easier and tastier. Normally this upma is made of left over idiyappams. With very less ingredients we can make this delicious upma in less time. i make this recipe during our kitty parties and ladies love this dish with a combination of coconut chutney. There are various ways to make this recipe as such pongal, lemon sevai, coconut sevai, vegetable sevai upma etc…but i need to make a simple upma with very less home available ingredients. Ingredients
- Left over Idiyappam – 2cups (scrumbled) (how to make Idiyaappam)
- Onion – 1no (chopped)
- Green chilies – 2nos (chopped)
- Ginger – 1/2 inch (finely chopped)
- Salt as per taste.
- Coconut oil – 1tsp (any oil as per taste can be used)
For seasoning
- Mustard seeds/ Rai – 1/2 tsp
- Urad Dal – 1tsp
- Curry leaves/ Kadipatta – 5to 6 leaves.
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds and urad dal. When it starts to splutter, add curry leaves.
- Then add chopped green chilies amd ginger. Saute for a minute.
- Now add chopped onion and little salt.saute till the onion turns transparent.
- Now add scrumbled idiyaappam and mix them nicely so that all the ingredients are properly mixed.
- Serve hot with evening tea or else morning breakfast.
