Today i am presenting before you an healthy but easy to make recipe – Kerala Cheera Thoran. Cheera is a Malayalam word for Red Spinach. Leafy vegetables are very much essential food for a human life. It must be included in our daily diet. Spinach is filled with all nutrients and rich in vitamin a and also reduces hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Kerala Cheera Thoran is a combination of spinach and coconut mixture which makes a wonderful combination with hot rice. Lets get into the recipe…
Ingredients:
- Kerala Cheera/ Red Spinach – 3cups cleaned and finely chopped
- Fresh grated coconut – 1/2 cup
- Green Chilies – 3nos
- Small Onions/ Shallots/ Small Red Onions – 4nos
- Salt as per taste.
- Coconut oil – 1tsp
Method
- Heat oil in a kadai. Add chopped Spinach/ Cheera and close it with a lid in a low flame.
- After 2 mins. remove lid and saute Cheera with a spatula.add salt as per taste.let the water completely ooze out from Cheera.
- Now take fresh grated coconut, green chilies and small onions in a mixer jar and grind it. kindly note not to make a paste of coconut mixture.
- Add ground coconut mixture into the cheera and mix them nicely.
