Pazham Puzhungiyathu (Kerala Style)

Pazham Puzhungiyathu (Boiled plantains)  a Kerala traditional dish served during Onam and Vishu sadya as a side. This can be also eaten during evening snack or morning breakfast as it has many nutritional qualities which are essential to human body. Even this is served to a 6months baby as a daily diet. This dish can become a side dish for Rice puttu and vegetable upma.

Ingredients

  • Kerala Banana/ Ethapazham/plantains – 1no

 

Method:

  • Cut the banana into three pieces. Put it in a steel bowl.
  • Place the banana bowl in a pressure cooker filled with little water. Don’t pour water into the banana bowl.
  • Close the cooker lid and put pressure on it. When 1st whistle comes,  switch off the flame.

Pazham Puzhungiyathu is ready to serve along with Upma, Rice puttu or else during sadya.
